The Spirit of Belonging: Grafted In
Paul David Guidry's picture

Romans 8:16 (NASB) For you have not received a spirit of slavery leading to fear again, but you have received a spirit of adoption as sons by which we cry out, “Abba! Father!”

God has been breathing life into dead things since Day 6 of creation! And he has called us to do the same. In the beginning, God called things that were not as though they were already in existence. He spoke the dream of His heart and it became reality. The goal of that dream is you! He declared His name and nature in the darkness and light was the manifestation. He defined and demonstrated faith from the beginning. This is what separates us from the world but places us firmly in the mission to the world. Faith. That cord that ties us all together in unity and love by the bond of the Spirit in Christ Jesus as we are tethered together to this Spirit of Adoption. By this faith we are grafted into the family of God. This is the Spirit of belonging. You belong here!

When you come to Jesus you become partakers and participators in His divine nature. His divine power gives you everything you need for life and godliness. He does not give you a spirit of fear, but of love, power and discipline.

Where hearts are broken, you bind them up

Where people are captive, you declare their freedom

And where hope is dead; where sickness abounds; where bodies have failed, you breathe the proclamation of life because that is who He has made you to be through the Spirit of Adoption.

This Spirit of belonging makes you a child of royalty! So, be royal indeed, and leave a trail of His lavish love everywhere you go!

Romans 8:16 (The Passion Translation) 16 For the Holy Spirit makes God’s fatherhood real to us as he whispers into our innermost being, “You are God’s beloved child!”

Ephesians 4:14-16 (New Living Translation) Then we will no longer be immature like children. We won’t be tossed and blown about by every wind of new teaching. We will not be influenced when people try to trick us with lies so clever they sound like the truth. Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. He...

Mark 4

Jesus taught in parables by the water. This season of his life and ministry was marked by both growing hostility toward him, and the consistent adulation for Him. The crowds that came were likely populated by some who wanted to ensnare Him and those who wanted to witness the wonders of which they heard. Rather than “preach to the choir” Jesus chose to speak in parables. Why? “He...

Ephesians 1:22-23 (ESV)
22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

Why did Jesus come? Why did He endure all things for the joy set before Him? Why was the plan hatched in the secret strategy rooms of heaven that would reveal this mystery of the Lamb who was slain from...
